Diverse Voices --New Books Exploring Immigration
Fourth Graders at Jefferson have been studying immigration to California. As part of this unit, they have been interviewing family members and friends about their own journeys to the United States. During library visits, we've been reading new books connected to the theme of immigration. Some of the amazing new books we've read so far are Islandborn by Junot Diaz, Drawn Together by Mihn Le, Saffron Ice Cream by Rashin Kheiriyeh, and Lucky Broken Girl by Ruth Behar.

Emma Bland Smith --Jefferson Parent & Author
Jefferson parent and author, Emma Bland Smith, has published a new series of chapter books, Maddy McGuire, about a spirited girl with a keen sense of entreprenuership.
